Peter Kuper’s comics and illustrations have appeared worldwide, including The New Yorker, The Nation, Charlie Hebdo, and MAD, where he has written and illustrated SPY vs. SPY every issue since 1997.


He is the co-founder of World War 3 Illustrated a political graphics magazine that has given a forum to political artists since 1979 and produced over two dozen books including Sticks and Stones, The System, Diario de Oaxaca, Ruins (winner of the 2016 Eisner Award) and adaptations of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and many of Franz Kafka's works into comics including The Metamorphosis and Kafkaesque.

His latest books are Wish We Weren’t Here a collection of environmental comics, and Insectopolis: A Natural History, winner of the 2026 American Library Association award for best nonfiction graphic novel and The Entomology Society of America's Science Communication Award.

Peter has exhibited and lectured around the world and teaches comics at Harvard University.
